Awaken : My NaNoWriMo 2007 Novel

So I decided to try a one-word title for my novelizing attempt this year. Which is much improved over the 29 word title I had at one time (trying to boost word count with the title alone… *smirk*).

Awaken is a story with a religious bend to it. Not overly serious, but at the same time it’s not all goofyness either. The basic plot idea is that the Gods (all of Them) are sick and tired of the way humanity is destroying itself and risking the total destruction of the world, so They decide to take matters into Their own hands. The story will follow the escapades of three Gods inparticular: Anpu (Anubis), Djehuty (Thoth), and Heru sa Aset (Horus, son of Isis). Upon the initial decision that They are the only Ones who can fix humanity, They decide to come to the mortal world. This is where the trouble begins, as They try to determine how to get here so that They can do what is needed. There are plans for one scene in a hospital nursery where They were just born into mortal forms (Heru’s idea), and find that doing anything is going to be a lot tricker than initially speculated.

And so begins it. More as the story develops.

I’m Just Beginning…

So, I’m sitting here waiting for my new external 250 GB hard drive’s arrival via UPS, growing rapidly anxious while I try to look for inspiration for the tattoos I intend on getting for spiritual purposes (I’m not a big fan of the idea, especially with my skin sensitivity, but I talked to my doctor and he said there shouldn’t be any problems, so…). I’ve found many wonderous designs on DeviantART, a couple of which I intend on contacting the artist for permission to use their exact design simply because of how beautiful they are. My drawing skills are far from perfection, though these people have been blessed with that perfection.

I still fully intend to get things on these other pages in time. It’s just difficult concidering how many journals and whatnot I actually operate. And I’m not going to start on any new writing projects until I have my hard drive, though I have already been thinking about what to possibly do for NaNoWriMo. It’s coming up soon, and registration on the site should be opening soon as well. I’m looking forward to trying to actually get past the 25,000 mark this year (I managed that much despite the troubles I was having last year, and I have only ever once achived an almost-complete word count at 48,958 words, but as you can imagine, that was more frustrating than only being half-way done…

I do have a new poem I wrote the other night… It’s currently lost in one of the many notebooks in my messenger bag, but once I find it, I will post it up here as well as on DeviantART. I’m still not sure if I will actually ever return to FictionPress or FanFiction.Net, but I might… You never know. For now, however, I like the DeviantART community better, so I’m sticking with them.
